I recently was expelled from high school. Can I still go to a good college?

A few months ago, I stole a test from my teachers desk. I gave it to one friend, who later gave it to about 20 other kids. The school had no other choice but to expel me. I truly am a good kid, never having done anything wrong before. It really is true how one bad decision can change your life

I am now a tenth grader at a different school getting around a 3.7 taking 4 honors classes. If i continue these grades, and get around 2,000 on the SAT's, where could I go to college? Could I get into UCLA or USC or NYU or GEORGE WASHINGTON? These were the schools I was hoping to go to, and I truly hope I don't have to alter my dreams....any suggestions?I recently was expelled from high school. Can I still go to a good college?Keep on the right track. You will get into the school you want. We all are human and make mistakes. Do good.
I recently was expelled from high school. Can I still go to a good college?
your ******, period.

unless you show you are absolutely OUTSTANDING (4.0, 4.5+ weighted, extremely good EC's, etc. which you aren't at), then there is little chance you could get in because of what you did.

Suicidal - please I desperately want help?

It's been about 4-5 months since I started feeling suicidal, and I've been depressed much longer. But I can't live like this anymore. Every waking moment I want to die. I'm so restless from it, and I'm getting so exhausted from it. I'm a sophomore in high school.

I have no friends. I wish I didn't care, but I don't. I'm not very good with people, and being depressed and suicidal just consumer my thoughts that it's even harder bothering to make friends. And I can't make friends with the people in my school because the friends I had ditched me and the people generally know me and I guess don't like me enough to even bother with me. Indifference is so difficult to deal with.

So making friends at school is really out of the question. One solution I thought of was switching schools so I could have a fresh start and people wouldn't know me. But the only public school that I can switch into is a very elite high school, one of the top in the country, selective of their students. I don't know if I will have the grades to switch in, and if they'll even have an opening. A lot of people I was friends with who were good friends went there, but I didn't because I still had friends here but those friends ditched me. And now I have no one.I don't know what to do if I can't get into the school.

I want to die. I want to die so bad. I just want all of this to end. At first I thought that I'd be fine and get better if I could just escape this, but lately I just think of the future and I get scared because of how much harder things will get.I'm so confused. My only goal right now is to get into that school. But that is so far off. And I don't even know if I can be accepted. I don't know if I can last that long.

I don't have friends that I desperately want. And this depression, this feeling just won't go away.

The guy that I love lives far away. At least he is still in the US and on the same coast, but the only way to see him would be with a plane ride and only on major holidays. But we both love each other a lot, and it's really hard getting by every day without him next to me. Everyone says the reasonable thing to do is let go, but love isn't just something you can just crush and give up. I have a really difficult time getting close to people and loving them. He's the first person I have ever loved in my life. But it's long distance...and we're both only half way through high school. How will this work?

My family doesn't know the meaning of love. My parents are extremely unsupportive, and they will not get me help even unless I fight them on it. They don't believe I have a serious problem. But I feel so bad all day, and I want to die. I coped with this for a long time, but I can't take it any longer. I'm supposed to see a therapist this week, but my mom doesn't care and still hasn't scheduled an appointment. Everytime I ask her she says, %26quot; Do you really need to go?%26quot; It hurts so much that my parents don't understand and aren't trying to help. The doctors have told them that I'm suicidal and I've made plans to kill myself and etc. but it doesn't affect them. They tell me I better stop it or I'll regret it.

Why does no one want to help me. I am really considering killing myself or running away. If I run away I will still be alive, but it'll be much more difficult for me to get a job and etc. because of an incomplete education.

Please, what do I do?? I desperately need help. I cry everyday for hours; I feel so bad. I want to die. I don't have any reason to stay. PLEASE HELP.

And please, don't say anything like change your thinking or personality. If it was that easy, I wouldn't be seeking help here.Suicidal - please I desperately want help?I went through i stage like this, where i felt nothing was worth it anymore. My parents didn't really know what i was going through until i opened up to them. And when i say opened up to them i mean i was crying for ages just letting every feeling and emotion out. My school nurse was really good she let me talk to her and they had a councillor who came in now and again to talk to students. Maybe try to talk to someone in your school. They may have someone who can talk to you. I went through a stage with no friends but maybe try and get in with a new group of friends. What ever you do don't run away or kill your self. Your parents would be so upset. I ran away after a big argument with my parents about everything. It made everything a hundred times worse. Try seeking help on your own if your parents wont do it. I hope this helps and try writing everything down then burning it. It helped for me its like burning all your problems away.

Suicidal - please I desperately want help?
you need to go to a hospital if you are this extremely depressed.

you can book yourself in to be diagnosed and hopefully get some counseling....

just drive yourself to one as soon as you are able. there is no shame in that. depression is a clinical illness just like people who have MS or Parkinson's...etc.
Suicidal - please I desperately want help?
First, take a deep breath...you are young. Nothing in life could be so costly to take your own life. Get involved at your school, play a sport, take up a hobby. Find a good church support group...take time to notice all the good in life...take a walk. It will be okay...for sure, you would be missed if you were gone...God bless.
Seek some professional help. NOW!!!!!. This is serious.
Please do not kill yourself!! You can get through this, and help others in the future who are struggling with depression. Right now all sorts of hormones are changing in your body, which contributes a lot to feelings of depression, anxiety, etc. Believe me - I know.

Definitely try to get in to the other school - it's worth a shot, right? Fresh starts are great if you get the opportunity. Please hang on!! You WILL get through this!!
First of all, it seems as if you are trying to have your friends give you happiness...one thing you need to know is friends you make at school and in highschool you cant really rely on them...the first step you need to do is find a hobbie or something you really enjoy, art...music...anything and use that to bring out the things that you think made you depressed in the first place. I was depressed for a really long time, and yes it is a chemica problem in the brain. And it can be beat. just dont end it...life is better. You say your family doesnt know the meaning of love and are unsupportive. you and this person who is the love of your life will be able to start your own life and make your life how you want it instead of how they make it. just trust me...find one thing that makes you really happy. its gonna be hard. but dont stop trying....good luck :) plus if you love someone, dont be selfish and end your life because your going to hurt the one you love mostly.

What do ivy schools look for in me?

Do schools look at the high school you attend? how hard do they look upon that?

Also if you were to change your high school every year does it matter?

say i got to 2 different public school for 9th and 10th then go to private for the rest?

does that look bad?depending on the high school?

do private school look better than public school?

also if my grades are

pretty much b+ for my first semester than all A's and one B+ for my 2nd semester in my 9th grade year

does that start of bad for an ivy league school?

i plan on joining lots of clubs for next year and extracurricular's

but say i plan for a medical field (not sure yet what i want to do) not something simple tho

it doesnt have to be only ivy league but around those types of school?

also does math matter alot?

like say you

take

regular algebra

geomety honors

algebra 2 honors

then precal

is that so bad? What do ivy schools look for in me?You are not headed on an ivy track at all. Please refer to the other poster's comment on how to improve. In all, getting into an ivy league school sounds like a pipedream for you and you do not really even want it. Most people who post about ivy leagues are asking questions like %26quot;is this good enough%26quot; when they are in all AP/IB courses, and you are asking %26quot;is [this] so bad?%26quot; You have to aim higher if you want to get into these schools. You need to challenge yourself and stand out somehow. You do not stand out yet (does not even sound like you want to).

You have to realize just how big this country is. Thousands of applicants apply, they have to deny many many people every year, many of which are very qualified. It just does not seem like you understand how real the competition is. Most people do not get into these schools. So, you should not be asking yourself, %26quot;does this matter a lot?%26quot; you need to be asking yourself, how can I get all As in the hardest classes available. And, further, %26quot;what can I do to make me special enough to beat out the other thousand or so applicants%26quot;
What do ivy schools look for in me?
When I was applying for colleges, the ivy schools looked for students that challenged themselves. So if you went to a school where they offered calculus, and you didn't take it, you were worse off than a student who only took pre-cal at a school where that was the highest math offered. So, basically, take the best your school has to offer.

Also, it was better to have a couple extracurriculars you did a lot of stuff in than a whole bunch you barely participated in. The SAT/ACT grades were really important too. Some of the ivys have an unwritten %26quot;minimum%26quot; score. It also helps to sound motivated and interesting in the application essays. The school I went to required an interview.

Mostly remember that you're competing against a ton of other students for a small # of spaces, so getting in is about standing out against your fellow applicant. My friend worked in admissions and some of the people they rejected were qualified and would have been accepted another year, but the year they applied there were more applicants who beat them out.

I am 14 and i wish i can start ballet dancing?

i'm a 14 y/o girl. and i really really want to start ballet. is it too late? it feels like it. i started before when i was 4 but only went for a few wekkes then stop. what do you think? i am already having a busy schedule here with school, school activities, piano lessons, art classes, sunday school. and i heard ballet lessons cost a lot, i'm not sure about my parents. and i'm 14!!! it going to be terrible. i'll have to work with the little kids of 4 to 6 and i'm going to be the only 14 year-old in class. so..... EMBARRASSING! abut oh dear, i really want to dance....

here are a few questions:

do you think i can try it? after all those problems up there?

how long do classes last, how many times a week?

how much do they cost?

how long do you need to change your shoes. i mean, how long does one pair last? and how much do they cost?

if i 'll start at grade one, then can i skip grades? like try to catch up with other 14 y/o's?

how will the exams be?

DO YOU THINK I SHOULD GO FOR IT?I am 14 and i wish i can start ballet dancing? There is another factor you did not consider...How big are you? (Height and weight) Most ballerina's are not very big. (Under 5'2%26quot; adult height) Anyone can learn to dance at any age ( and you will not be put in a class with 6 year olds, but in a teen or adult beginners class), but it takes years to become a pointe ballerina. Apparently Princess Diana wanted to pursue a career in dancing, but at 5'10%26quot; and 155 pounds, she was told that she was bigger than almost all male dancers, and was WAY too tall to ever be a ballerina.

They don't give exams in dancing school. Shoes are purchased either as you outgrow them or they are worn or you switch from soft to hard (pointe) shoes.

Lessons can range from $25 to $65 a class session (45 or 50 minutes)
I am 14 and i wish i can start ballet dancing?
well.....i loved dance....and i miss it sooo much.......i had knee surgery and had to stop......but they lasted about 1-2 hours....longer when it got close to competition or recital time....its really hard to balance everything and keep your grades up.......and you probobly have a few classes every week......but they cost quite a bit.....but if you really want to......you really dont have to change your shoes that often.........but you probobly wont skip grades unless your like really good.......if you really want it you should go for it!
I am 14 and i wish i can start ballet dancing?
i was in your situation a few weeks ago i'm 14 too! i thought i would be with young children too but im not! i'm with people the year below me i don't mind because there really funny. starting ballet is fantastic, i love every lesson.it's not very expensive like 拢4 a lesson but it does vary. i am with people who have been doing it a long time, but there are some new ones too, i am picking it up quickly. START IT IT IS AMAZING!!!!
Totaly go for it when i did ballet for 2 years i was slightly older than everyone else dont be worried just aim for what u want go try if u dont like it u can easyly quit
Sabra Johnson.
its not to late! I didnt start til like I was 12 almost 13. Now im 14 and Im starting pointe this summer! Instead of starting with 4 to 6 year olds ask your studio if they have a 'teen' ballet class because thats what I did for my first season. Now im at a pre pointe level w/ girls like 11-14 ! Classes are usually an hour. Its up to you how many classes a week. If your serious about it and looking to get really good i'd say atleast 3 per week. If your just doing it as an extra fun thing then you can just take 1. GO FOR IT GIRL! :] lol hope I helped!
I think you should try it if you think you can do it. I mean, the other activities you have listed up there seem like a lot already but dance has been very rewarding and fun for me. I started at 13 so i think it is okay to start now. And you dont HAVE to work with the little kids. There should be other people just like you that want to dance now but are not 4-10 years old anymore. Check with the front desk and ask them what classes they have, also check the prices with your parents too.
If it is something that you love and you want to do all the time, then go for it. But you have to be very dedicated to dancing. I'm sure they will not put you in a level with kids 4-6. They will probably put you with your age, or a class below your age. (only since you are just starting dance)

Classes vary between academies, my ballet classes are about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Except on Saturday i am there till 10-12:30. And the cost also varies on the academy's.

Depending on what brand of ballet shoes you get they normally cost somewhere under $20. I would most defiantly get CANVAS SPLIT-SOLE ballet shoes. Do not buy the leather ballet shoes, they crack and are very UN-attractive. And do not get a full sole ballet shoe, it does not show off your arch at all.

I'm sure that if you work hard and try your best then you will move up very fast. (but I'm almost positive you will not be in the 4-6 year old class) Good Luck!!! :]
im 13 and started grade 2 ballet about 2 weeks ago and it costs 拢5.20 and i do one lesson i am with 7/8 year olds .

you do have quiet a busy schedual but just look for a place then ask your parents

shoes last ages if you dont do loads of lessons a week it pointe shoes that dont last bacause there the ones in which you go on your toes in and they get worn away easilly.

hope this help any more question just ask me and try learning some of the things on this website

Two personalities inside of me?

I麓m 15 and I found out it麓s a nasty world out there, however, i try to socialise, because i feel I麓m really social, i just can麓t find someone to socialise with, everybody in my school talk about crap.

Everyday i say to myself, be yourself (in school) but it is sooo difficult.

At the end of the day I feel pretty bad, because i feel that i am an outsider, I wanna be a nice person, a happy one, and being sad and depressed in my classes around my classmates just makes me feel worse and worse. Everyday in my home i say to myself, change your attitude, tomorrow you can start all over, bu it麓s the same everyday!

In my school i sort of have a changing process, i feel that a lot of things are happening to me right now, for example, I get good grades, and my classmates get angry for that, I don麓t know how to treat them, I麓m getting tired, because it麓s the same all over.

Any help is ok, and please tell me if you have felt the same, or are feeling the same! Two personalities inside of me?Hi there young lady the world is not a nasty place only some of the people make it look like that, you are very spacial, but just shy, nothing wrong with that, and so what if you are good in your studies ,hard look if your classmates are not as good as you ,just be yourself .the world out there is wonderful, and as you get older you will meet lots of people just like yourself .remember we were not put on this earth to please other people,we can choose are friends as we like.I was an outsider thats because I was no good in my studies .I messed a bout to much ,I had no friends. just remember you are a special young lady. from winifred s

Don't worry about your raging schizophrenia, I just hope the two of you learn to get along :)
Two personalities inside of me?
I used to have similar problems in school, a lot of trouble with people in my class and I became very withdrawn and isolated from my classmates, developped depression and ended up with some serious anxiety and confidence issues.

I got out of it in the end because I moved into a completely different class that I already had a friend in, and that's how I met the people I'm still friends with now - having those people to talk to was the only thing that helped me, which is why being around the right people is so important.

People say it's a bit over the top, but if you really have to, you should even change schools just to get yourself in a new social environment, and it really does help not to have all the preconceptions and barriers surrounding you when you are trying to make new friends.
Keep your head up %26amp; keep getting good grades! People want to tear other people down instead of building themselves up. Maybe you can say some nice words and compliments to build the other people up. They obviously feel bad about themselves. Try to point out what is good about them. We all have some gift or ability that others may not have.
I kind of know what you mean, i used to get angry with myself because i was really shy at school and at home i was complete opposite and i used to say to myself stop being so quiet and let yourself go....

I never got good grades and wasn't very popular so it was made worse.

I think because so many people knew me as the quiet one, i thought if i be myself people wont like me so i never did change i left school and went to college where i could start a fresh and i was myself, people liked me for who i am. So don't be scared to show our true self and achieve grades at the end of the day if they don't like you for you then whats the point in you changing who you are to suit them.

Good luck (email if you need to chat more)
It's not about having two personalities, it's just really difficult when you do not 'click' with any of your peers. What you need to do is focus why you don't click with your school colleagues and see if there are any bridges you can build. What you are doing now, by going online is not a bad thing, you may come across people your o.

  • What to say to an angry teenager?

I teach high school. One of my students was downright scary last year. He had an awful temper, to the point that I warned the teachers around me to check in on my room if they heard me yelling because I expected him to beat someone half to death and I wouldn't be able to stop him. But since then, he's done a complete turnaround. His grades have improved, his attitude has improved, he actually has a plan for his life (wants to join the air force) and while he still gets angry easily, he controls it very well. But recently, his girlfriend cheated on him. I overheard him in class today, telling another student how he was going to %26quot;get%26quot; the other guy. This kid has had a terrible time at home (his parents kick him out of the house about every other week, and smoke pot in front of him and his siblings) and has come a long way. I really think he has the chance to change his life, and is four months from getting away from all of this and starting a new life. I'm concerned that he will hurt this guy and get himself arrested, which will ruin his plans completely. I know it's none of my business, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't at least make an attempt to stop this. If you were an angry 18 year old, what could someone say that would make you change your mind? I remember when I was in high school I assumed that everything adults said was garbage, so I want to be very careful about how I go about this. HELP!!!What to say to an angry teenager?Tell him you have seen a great change in his life and you are so glad he has a plan mapped out. Tell him he has reason to be angry and hurt over this girl friend situation, but to loose control and take revenge out on the guy could derail his plans for the Air Force. Tell him you care about him and his future, and he doesn't need a girl friend who cheats -- he will eventurally find one who really deserves him.

If he knows you really care, he will listen.

    God Bless.
What to say to an angry teenager?
Don't do anything because you might end up hurting yourself.
What to say to an angry teenager?
If you know his parents are like that..then what are you waiting for?..why are you asking us?..call the authorities and report it.
Man, I have enough trouble getting ten year old boys with anger issues to come around. If you need to say something to him, maybe just tell him how proud you are of him for turning his life around and you want him to know that he can come talk to you if he's feeling like he might make a bad decision regarding recent events.
I would accept help from others (esp. adults) if they seem genuine. You should try bonding with him and offer to help him with hw or projects. Tell him that you care about his future and would like to be of any further assistance to his problems. It won't be easy at first but if you seem like those great, truly caring teachers in movies, he'll atleast have his ears open for anything you need to say.
Wow, you must really like this kid...

I'm so glad that a teacher actually cares about her students...

This is really nice to read!

Well, I mean, I'm 15 but I listen to adults, but now it's like I've done it so much, I've pretty much making my own decisions even though they are still trying to tell me what to do, lol...

But the problem stems from his parents...I mean it has to.

I know you would feel bad if he gets arrested, but some kids are just doomed, I mean that's how things work in this world...

Kids go to high school, they're parents are stupid, that makes the kids stupid, and they fall behind and get in trouble...

He's angry because he doesn't understand the world.

I can tell you I haven't had the best parents, but I was just born smart I guess...I'm defiantly lucky for it...because my life is going good so far.

Some kids are born with out a chance, there is little to nothing you can do to change that...

That's what destiny has done to the kid...nobody can change it.
stop meddling in our personal lives!!

its imprudent! he's an adult now
I'd say just get him talking is the important thing , let him vent to someone, someone that can be a sounding board while he vents and also someone who can let him know the #1 thing for him to think of is HIS future. stress to him, HE alone determines his future. HIS choices make his future. Give him confidence and distract him from this girl. Now his life is going to be FULL, full of NEW BEGINNINGS. ,not the old past. Keep close to be able to talk to him and he can open up to you or someone that you think he trusts or likes talking to.

    Agree or disagree?

why do people classify a life into generic stages? society impresses sameness upon all of its inhabitants regardless of sex, age, or race. we all have, in shakespeare's words %26quot;seven ages%26quot; or stages of life: infancy, childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, adulthood, middle age, and elderliness. from ignorance to ignorance with little in between. as the famous quote says %26quot;ignorance is bliss%26quot; many people would never apply such a term as ignorance to themselves, why that would be awful to call yourself ignorant wouldnt it? but so many people are ignorant despite their grades, schooling, or job title. from infancy ours parents are taught and shown how they should %26quot;properly%26quot; raise us. then we either accept or reject how they raised us, raising our ow children the same or the opposite of the way we were raised. traditions are then established and placed into action,%26quot;if you do not conform then you shall be reformed!%26quot; this is the way society handles its inhabitants. the contemporary artist is the closest to breaking this cycle. as they go through their schooling they are taught that they must first learn the rules so that they can break them.and this is the only way we can fix our world. our lives are not supposed to be ridged and directed by others, and the first step that you have to take is out of the box! now you are not supposed to question things %26quot;not i your power%26quot; but what is power? think of society as the box and that box is a battery that turns on a light. people in power are essentially an on/off switch that controls the life. now if everyone steps out of the box then the batery has no charge what so ever and the light bulb isnt lit. but now what you have is free energy that can be turned into anything or any action! however we are a people of routine. well actually the whole world is based around an almost perfect biological clock. from migration to the growth of all living things are based around the environment. if it becomes colder you change yourself or you move, a very simple logic. but no this simple logic is something that we humans find difficult to grasp. instead for us if it gets cold we build a fire, so instead of changing ourselves we change our surroundings. so if we arent directed by nature then why do we have routine? the most obvious answer is that routine provides structure which allows for the rise of a society. without which we would be a disjointed species living in small family groups. but still the question is not really answered, why do we get up each morning and work? or only eat at certain times? etc... now what if you were to try something new everyday? you would probably think you would run out of things to do. but if you kept with the trend it would leave you to have to come up with new things to do. this is what we like to call creative thinking and what it does is it gives people freedom. freedom to bring about change. your daily routine would change little by little each day keeping your mind fresh and more importantly enlightening you about the world you live in. no longer would you be drifting in your bubble, but you could become the you that is in touch with the world around you while maintaining the %26quot;you%26quot; that you spent most of your life finding.Agree or disagree?I agree.

We live in a complex world only because we have chosen to do so. Sometimes I feel like we are pushed in one direction like so many cattle, heading toward the slaughter. I find it strange that many people base their ideas of success based on current societal trends. And not on their own sense of success.
    Agree or disagree?
a word of advice.. you might want to get the most important thing out of that and make it shorter. i'm too lazy to read all of that. i'm sorry but i think other people think the same way.
